The majority of people who enter a Toronto addiction rehab do so on their own initiative, or are referred by a loved one. But you don’t need to be a family member to help someone enter rehab.
Others may refer a person to rehab. While these ‘others’ can technically include just about anyone, there are certain people or groups for which this is most practical.Â
This is why Trafalgar operates multiple referral programs. These programs make it possible for others to suggest rehab to an individual, or be ready to help when the individual needs it.Â
The programs we run our for the therapists of addicted individuals, and the companies these individuals work for.Â
Therapist referrals
Therapists have privileged relationships with their clients. At its essence, therapy is about working through feelings and understanding the origins of your behaviour. Often times, people are better able to comprehend themselves during sessions, and communicate with therapists more openly than they can with those closest to them.
This is partly because therapy is a place where people feel free from judgment. Whereas an individual may feel guilt, shame or fear of rejection when divulging thoughts and fears to a loved one, a therapist is viewed more impersonally, almost like a sounding board.Â
Consequently, therapists sometimes have a clearer understanding of an individual’s addiction than those who are closest to that individual. Whereas a person may hide a drug addiction from their partner, they may be completely open about their struggles in therapy.
In these scenarios, therapists are able to recommend rehab as a way to overcome addiction. In some cases, this may be as simple as suggesting a person consider therapy. But Trafalgar’s Toronto therapist referral program is a way to actually help clients begin the process.
A therapist referral is when a therapist encourages their client to seek help from us. It’s a streamlined process that makes it easy for the client to enter our rehab centre programs in Toronto, and allows us to account for the client’s psychological status upon entry.Â
This referral is a powerful tool that can make a real difference to the well being of a client, making it easier for them to get the help they need to overcome an addiction.
Corporate referrals
Businesses and corporations are eligible for Trafalgar’s corporate referral program. This gives company owners and HR departments a powerful resource for helping employees with addictions and mental health issues.
In addition to providing help for an employee, companies benefit from our referral program by receiving the necessary resources to ensure their team member is a healthy, productive and reliable component of the organization.Â
In situations of corporate referral, we attempt to ensure the best possible outcome for all parties involved. In some cases, this might mean the client stays on-site at one of our Toronto treatment centres. In others, a referral may lead to an outpatient program, where the client lives at home and either takes a brief leave from work, or continues to work, while attending therapy sessions.Â
In either case, our corporate referrals program is designed to lead to the best possible outcome for both the client and the company the client works for. It’s meant to make help more readily available, while limiting disruption for the employers of the client.Â
