Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is an anxiety disorder characterized by irrational thoughts and fears that manifest themselves as obsessions that lead an individual to repetitive behaviours out of compulsion.
OCD Treatment
OCD is a complex disorder, and can take on many forms. In some cases it’s also possible to have obsessions exclusively, or only compulsions, but in either case the disorder is still characterized as OCD.
The experienced staff at Trafalgar Addiction Treatment Centres understand this is an incredibly frustrating and debilitating disorder that makes an individual feel hopeless and without control of their own body.
Each individual case is different, and it’s possible for an individual to not even realize that their obsessions aren’t reasonable. They may either try to ignore or stop them altogether – leading to increased distress and anxiety.
We’re here to help you get past your obsessions and compulsions by providing a safe, understanding and effective mental health treatment to help you get a better hold of your disorder.
Although medication may not be a successful treatment option for OCD, mental health treatment options such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and other techniques can help you to understand and regain control over your disorder and your life.
