START YOUR RECOVERY TODAY

Withdrawal is an intensely difficult process. When the body has come to depend on a substance, a person may require medical support to stop using it.

Trafalgar Addiction Treatment Centres offers medical detox for our clients, both as part of our inpatient and outpatient programs and as a separate service. If a client requires medical detox, we collaborate with an external service provider for the process. Once medical detox has been completed, clients can transition simply and directly into our treatment program. Alcohol detox and drug detox through Trafalgar Addiction Treatment Centres is available as a stand-alone service or in conjunction with our residential or outpatient treatment programming.

Alcohol Detox & Drug Detox

Medical detox generally lasts around three-to-seven days, however this can vary depending on the person. During medical detox, a client is supervised and supported by medical professionals on a 24-hour basis. Once a doctor states that a client no longer requires medical supervision, they can begin their addiction treatment process.

While medical detox is necessary for many people attempting to begin recovery from an addiction, it is only the first step. Once it is concluded, dedicated, evidence-based treatment will still be necessary to achieve lasting recovery.

At Trafalgar Addiction Treatment Centres, clients are screened over the phone to determine whether medical or non-medical detox is required prior to admission. Clients who have been clean and sober for a minimum of 72 hours prior to admission typically do not require further detox.

If medical detox is required, we work in association with Neworld Medical Detox and are able to seamlessly transition the client from detox directly into a Trafalgar treatment facility.

Stay at Medical Detox Centre

Length of stay at a medical detox centre ranges from 3 to 7 days. Typically once the doctor determines the client is no longer medically at risk, they may be discharged. Throughout the detox process, clients are supervised on a 24 hour basis. The length of stay may varies depending on each client’s individual situation.

Addiction Treatment After Detox

It’s important to note that detox is not appropriate treatment for drug or alcohol addiction, no matter what the substance of choice is. Detox alone might help the patient to stop abusing drugs and alcohol in the short term, but without follow-up care and psychotherapy, the risk of relapse into problematic use increases greatly. Trafalgar Addiction Treatment Centres offers evidence-based, client-centred treatment programs which give clients the best possible foundation for lasting recovery. We use methods including individual therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy and group counselling. As many people struggling with addiction are also dealing with mental health issues, we provide expert treatment for concurrent disorders.

We operate three rehab centres in Ontario:

As recovery is a lifelong process, we also provide all our clients with access to specialized aftercare support through our Aftercare and ContinUCare programs. Our support for our clients goes on long after initial treatment is completed.
