Sureeta is a clinical therapist with a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology. She has provided counselling in various settings, including inpatient addiction treatment, pain management, and crisis counselling. She incorporates practices from various counselling modalities, such as cognitive-behaviour therapy, dialectic behaviour therapy, mindfulness-based stress reduction, and narrative therapy.
Sureeta’s approach is holistic in nature, and focuses on helping clients identify their strengths and apply them in overcoming their barriers to well-being. In working with clients, she values the importance of walking alongside them as they gain important insights and self-awareness that allow them to shift negative thought patterns and maladaptive behaviours.
Sureeta has a strong passion for working with clients with concurrent disorders, and she places emphasis on the manner in which a person’s past experience shapes their current cognitive processes and behavioural response. She operates through a person-centered, trauma-informed lens, with an emphasis on the notion that each client hold within them the power to achieve and sustain positive changes in their lives.
