What is Virtual Addiction Treatment?
Virtual Addiction Treatment provides individuals with the opportunity to treat their addiction from the comfort of their chosen environment.
Online addiction recovery programs are evolving, and Trafalgar Addiction Treatment Centre is proud to offer an virtual rehab that supports a person to develop the necessary skills to function in everyday life and treat the underlying issues associated with their substance use and/or compulsive behaviour.
Trafalgar’s virtual rehab programs are designed to treat both addiction and co-occurring mental health issues through the expertise of Registered Mental Health Professionals and an evidenced-based curriculum.
Online Therapy Options
We understand that an online intensive outpatient program may not be for everyone, so individuals also have the option of choosing which services would address their identified issues while allowing for flexibility around work, career, family and your financial situation. At Trafalgar, we understand the relationship between a person’s mental health and addiction.
We want you to know that we take your mental health seriously.
One component of online therapy is for individuals to track their mental health symptoms (e.g., Depression, Anxiety, PTSD), substance use, and/or addictive behaviours over a designated period of time. These symptoms are monitored with a Registered Mental Health Professional in order to ensure effective follow-up and treatment.
In order to provide specialized care for our clients, we recognize that many individuals have a history of trauma and/or a diagnosis of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.
At Trafalgar, our online addiction treatment program takes this into consideration. We offer individual and group programming facilitated by Registered Mental Health Professionals who have extra training and experience in the area of trauma recovery and addiction.
Through online psychotherapy, you will collaborate with your therapist to develop a treatment plan that reflects your goals and that will take into consideration a way to help you manage mental health symptoms and trauma.
Flexible Online Therapy Sessions
Once you’ve identified your goals and a treatment plan has been established, you and your therapist will schedule online therapy sessions that work with your schedule, from the comfort of your home.
Day, evening, and weekend appointments are available, via video conference or telephone; you can also choose to schedule appointments in time frames that work for you, for example, a 50-minute appointment on a busy day or a 75-minute appointment when needed. All you need is a confidential, comfortable space.
Virtual Group Support
In our Virtual Intensive Outpatient Program (VIOP), you’ll also begin attending groups via video conferencing, with others who are also struggling with addiction and mental health-related issues, each day Monday to Friday, from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM.
You’ll be with 3-5 other people who will show you that you are not alone and who will provide valuable support and feedback. During group sessions you will be introduced to a variety of concepts and skills to help set you on the path to recovery and wellness; some such concepts include managing the intense emotions that can contribute to your addictive cycle, how to engage in effective communication and target codependent behaviours that keep you stuck in unhealthy patterns, and relapse prevention skills to keep your goals on track.
Flexible Options Instead of Groups Sessions
If scheduled group times don’t work with your schedule, we also offer the video lessons as the most flexible option; here, you will still meet with a masters’ level certified therapist weekly, as well as an addiction counsellor three times weekly, and skills and learning content is pre-recorded for your convenience, to watch whenever you’re ready.
Exercises to Help You Recover
In virtual group sessions or flexible video lessons, you will receive different exercises to do on your own time.
These sessions will also include between session work to complete as you navigate through life in early recovery, with the group’s guidance and support. Between session work is done on your own time, with real-world circumstances.
Between session work still provides you with the opportunity to practice integrating new skills and concepts for recovery such as emotion regulation, healthy relationships, and relapse prevention, as described above.
Online Support: Aftercare
Trafalgar Addiction Treatment Centre provides Aftercare for individuals who successfully complete the Virtual Intensive Outpatient Program.
Another support that clients receive at the end of their treatment is through our Continuation of Care program. An Addiction Counsellor calls our graduates to provide counselling support and an opportunity to check in about their recovery.
